Ready to get started?

  1. You’ll need to show that you have a:
    • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution
    • Minimum 2.5 GPA (overall or in the last 60 semester hours of college coursework)
    • 12-hours (college coursework) in the subject-specific area or 15-hours (college coursework) for mathematics or science above Grade 7

  2. Apply for the Teach Us Texas Certification Program.
  3. Request your schools send your official transcripts to Teach Us:
  4. Schedule your interview with your Enrollment Advisor to confirm your eligibility for the program.
  5. Eligibility confirmed — Your advisor will register you for classes and schedule a meeting with a certification specialist.
  6. Start your path toward becoming a teacher!

Teach Us Texas (formerly EIT: Excellence in Teaching) is a State Approved Alternative Certification Program

Transfer Credit

Do you have prior coursework? If so, it may transfer to Teach Us! Candidates may substitute prior or ongoing service, training, or education, provided that the experience, education, or training is not also counted as a part of the internship, clinical teaching, or practicum requirements, was provided by an approved EPP or an accredited institution of higher education within the past five years and is directly related to the certificate being sought. 

Military servicemembers or veterans may also receive credit for military service, training, or education if your military service, training, or education is directly related to the certificate being sought.
